As well as a worldwide chain of restaurants, YO! is intended to be a brand in multiple market sectors for those who are young at heart. It has been muted as the new Virgin.
YO! stands for integrity, friendliness and great value; Simon's current projects include YOTEL! - his much talked about cross between British Airways First Class and Japanese capsule hotels which opened in 2007, YO! Zone, part spa, part cafe, part bar and part nightclub, YO! How, an online support community for budding entrepreneurs and YO! Home: which will provide a futuristic take on the traditional home.
He has also published The Book of YO! which is in the UK best-selling business book lists. Simon has won many awards including the 1999 UK entrepreneur of the year and the 2000 Group Restaurateur of the Year. In recognition for his contribution to hospitality, Simon was awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours 2006.
Simon has appeared in BBC 2's The Dragons' Den as a Dragon prepared to invest his own money in businesses he thinks will be successful.
As a result of being asked to share the story of his entrepreneurial success, Simon has developed a strong reputation on the UK and international public speaking circuit. Simon speaks openly avoiding business cliché and audiences find his story extremely inspiring and a catalyst for their own endeavours, be they in a large corporate setting or working at a start-up level. Underlying each speech runs "Simon's story" - an inspirational tale of changing fortunes in several businesses.
